Eating Disorders

Are you in therapy and struggling with an eating disorder? Has your battle with food grown too overwhelming for you to handle without the help of a nutrition specialist?

Let me help you learn to live with food again. I’ve been providing support and guidance to women with eating disorders for 20 years, and I’ve seen them make it to the other side.

In addition to speaking extensively on the topic of eating disorders in various forums, I’ve been providing nutrition consulting to individuals with anorexia and bulimia nervosa, mixed conditions, and Binge Eating Disorder for 20 over years. My clients have included adolescents, young adults, older adults, men, and Type 1 diabetics. I work with their mental health counselors to support behavioral and interpersonal therapies. For younger clients, the family is nearly always involved.

From a nutrition perspective, the first step is to help the eating disordered individual reach and maintain a weight at which they can function optimally. While I respect the fear of giving up an eating disorder, I firmly believe that letting go of this behavior is the key to a happy and healthy life. I have a loving, straightforward style and a candid way of talking that opens the door to authentic conversation. With a relaxed, warm, and friendly approach, I will guide you as you challenge yourself to practice new eating behaviors. My ultimate goal is to promote a sense of harmony with food, and to make it a positive, nourishing force in your life – one to enjoy rather than fight.

Nutrition Consulting “Without Walls”

The fact of the matter is that many people who face these issues do not live near a nutritionist who specializes in eating disorders. What’s more, they might simply not have the time, means of transportation, or inclination to keep regular office appointments. Eat by Numbers is what I like to call a clinical practice ‘without walls’. My unique program integrates the nutrition consulting strategies I’ve been using for years with virtual means of communication such as web and telephone. Using these methods, I am able to reach out to more individuals in need of help - no matter where they call home - at a time of day that works best for them.

Winning the battle against an eating disorder can be a long and difficult journey, one which requires the utmost in dedication, care, and confidentiality. If you’re in need of specialized, non-judgmental support as you cope with an eating disorder, I encourage you to contact me.
